Michael Taylor At Home: Vintage Boutique Update

IMG_6816 (1)

We’re excited to announce that we’ve got a NEW shipment of items for our Vintage Boutique, all personally hand-selected by Michael Taylor himself in scenic Palm Springs, California! Yes, we’re bringing the celebrated Palm Springs style here to Tennessee. Palm Springs is a hotbed of mid-century design and fashion, and we’ve got some new-to-us pieces in the store that you’re just going to love.

This 1960’s era mod swing dress would be perfect for upcoming events like Easter, spring weddings and Steeplechase. Add a pretty hat, and voila!

This silver sheath dress looks like it’s straight out of an episode of the hit TV series, “Mad Men”, doesn’t it? It’s such a flattering and wearable style and the color makes it a great year-round dress.

This semi-formal gown is so flattering and perfect for ladies who prefer a dress with some upper-arm coverage. Isn’t the iridescent sheen of the skirt pretty and different? We don’t go for the same old/same old stuff!

The print of this ’60’s era sheath dress almost looks like a pattern by artist M.C. Escher, doesn’t it? Very bold and graphic, with colors that can transition into fall.

Here’s a bold, colorblocked beauty…great “mod” style for any season!

We also have some fun new accessories like this lucite-topped box evening bag in tortoise shell and bronze tones.

Also, have you heard that we’re now carrying the “South” candle line in-store? These gorgeous candles come in unique scents like “Blue Grass” and “Gun Powder.” They are beautifully packaged for gift-giving and are $30 each.  The pine cones and cotton bolls add a unique touch to the lid.

It’s a great week for the Michael Taylor Company with two awesome estate sales–one in Clarksville and one in Madison, both just a short, scenic drive from the Metro area, so please come out and shop with us! And our spring hiring season is in full swing…if you or someone you know is looking for a great job as a sale setter, salesperson or cashier, please send resumes to taylor.co@comcast. net. We’re looking for people who can work min. 3 days/week, have reliable transportation, can pass a background check and lift 25 lbs. $11/hour to start, and we offer a great team atmosphere!

Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Michael Taylor & Co.

Time to make a move? Let us help!

It’s springtime in Nashville, and that means that the real estate market is heating up. We’re seeing new “for sale” signs go up all over town, aren’t you?  With approximately 80 people moving to our city each day, this has made for a busy real estate market. Lots of folks are looking to buy…and lots of other folks are looking to cash out some equity and take this opportunity to make a change.

Moving is always stressful and difficult, but at the Michael Taylor Company, we’ve been helping clients liquidate unneeded belongings in preparation for moves for a long time, and we know how to help!

Wondering if a moving sale is right for you? Here’s how a sale can benefit you:

  1. Moving is not cheap. In most cases, it’s best to liquidate items that aren’t necessary rather than pay to pack and move them. Having a sale ahead of a move ensures that you’re just paying to move items that you really want and need. We’ve had some customers pay for their whole move with the proceeds of their sale…it’s a pretty smart way to off-set those moving costs!
  2. Clean out those storage areas. Who among us hasn’t put an item in a basement or garage, thinking that we will get rid of it “someday”, but never seem to get around to it? Clutter happens to the best of us. Sometimes, that clutter gets to be too much for busy people to handle by themselves…this is where our team can help!
  3. Change is inevitable. Hobbies change, children go off to college, lifestyles change…we need different “stuff” for different times in our lives, and sometimes the old stuff needs to find a new home. We have a huge network of estate sale customers who love to shop our sales, and we advertise to this audience weekly. Also, we have a proven track record of successful sales in Nashville…you don’t need to worry about “finding someone who can use such-and-such thing”–we do that for you!
  4. Value matters. You may know that your unnecessary items are worth “something”, but what? Over and over, we hear the phrase, “Well, I paid a lot for it and I don’t want to just give it away.”  We hear you on that! Our goal is to get the maximum value for your items. We have a great team of folks who are trained to spot and correctly value antiques, vintage and collectible items…and they know the trends in the market! Our job is to liquidate your items in the agreed-upon time frame at the best possible price, and we’ve been in business for over 8 years accomplishing just that for our customers.

So, if you (or a friend or neighbor!) find yourself considering a move this spring or summer…please don’t hesitate to give us a call at 615-545-2867. We’re happy to discuss your needs and see if our services are the right fit for the items you need to liquidate. Unlike other companies locally, our 9,000 sq foot warehouse gives us a range of options for sales, including having sales off-site at our warehouse if an on-property sale isn’t possible.

This week, we’ve got two great sales–one in Murfreesboro and one in Thompson’s Station. We’re also open Tuesday-Saturday from 10-5pm at Michael Taylor at Home at 478 Allied Drive, 37211…lots of great new stuff this week, please drop by and see! And, please don’t forget…it’s our spring hiring season. If you or someone you know needs a GREAT job with a wonderful team, we’re offering positions for sale setters, salespeople and cashiers. Must be able to work 3 days/week, lift 25 lbs, pass background check and work well with others. $11/hour to start, reliable transportation a must. New hours…new items at Michael Taylor At Home!

IMG_6630 (1)

This week kicks off our NEW spring schedule at Michael Taylor At Home. We’re now open every Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-5pm…extended hours to give our fabulous customers more flexibility when you shop! With 9,000 sq ft of combined gallery and warehouse space, we have so many treasures in store that it’s hard to pick just a few to feature on this blog, but we wanted to highlight several new things we’ve got in store right now.

AKFB5064 (1)

We just received a large assortment of these charming framed mottos from the 1930s-40’s.  These are just a few examples…they have sweet graphics and quotes about friendship, family or relationships, and look wonderful hung as a group. Very collectible, and would be a great gift item for a vintage-loving friend.

HOPL2006 (1)

These photos just don’t do the lush colors of these hand-painted china pieces justice. They are SO beautiful! Ranging in price from $115 for the serving plate to $125 for the sugar and creamer set. The pastel colors are just the perfect thing for an Easter table.

RYOK2280 (1)

We have beautiful chinoiserie pieces in store–Michael has a special fondness for it, and is a collector himself. The large vase with plums on the handles is $800, but the covered dish is $72, and sweet figurines are in the $25 range. Something for everyone!IMG_6043

This spectacular inlaid chinoiserie low table with 6 matching stools is a true one-of-kind piece…we get the most unique things in our gallery, don’t we? Really special and unusual!

Crystal, florals, fine furniture and fabulous artwork…you really have to see for yourself! Our inventory changes each week…and we get new inventory in all the time, so if it’s been awhile since you’ve shopped with us, we promise that it’s not the same old/same old.

This week, we’ve got lots of shopping opportunities…in addition to our new extended spring schedule at Michael Taylor At Home, we have three estate sales going on. Check our estate sale listings tab on the home page for details…

And, we are still looking to expand our estate sale team. We’re hiring salespeople, sale setters and cashiers–$11/hr start, must be available 3 days/week, must lift 25lbs, pass background check. Honest & hardworking team players only! Email your resume to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.…and if you refer a friend and we hire them, you will receive a $25 gift certificate as a referral bonus.
