Table Talk: Fun Fall Tablescape Ideas

Fall is right around the corner, although here in Nashville we are still dealing with summer temps. Cooler weather might be slow to arrive but we can still enjoy the feel of fall with some seasonal decorating.

At Michael Taylor At Home, we enjoy mixing vintage and modern for unique and fun tablescapes–and tables are our focus this week! If you need a new dining room table, buffet, occasional or coffee table…we’ve got a fabulous selection we’d love to show you.

Bring seasonal colors to your tablescape with bright sunflowers…and consider using a unique vase like this vintage silver plate trophy. A vintage silver tray, old books and bird sculpture and plate add autumnal charm. We stock a lot of silver plate, china and vintage books at Michael Taylor At Home if you are looking to re-create this look…or, similar items frequently pop up at our estate sales.

Here’s another idea combining the traditional look of blue and white china and autumn pumpkins/foliage. While we typically think of earth tones when we decorate for fall, the blue-and-white is a fresh and unexpected contrast…it’s different and fun! Blue and white china is very popular; you may have some of it in your own cabinets at home…if not, we always have a selection in stock in our retail store and it’s almost a staple at estate sales.

Here’s another blue, white and orange table featuring transferware, fresh mini-pumpkins and cobalt blue drinking glasses. Cobalt blue was a signature color in the 1990’s and dinnerware abounds in this formerly-popular color…look for it at our estate sales. What a great way to bring it back, right?

Check out this this charming teacup pumpkin! What a fun, different way to display a teacup collection with some fall flair. We love non-traditional and informal uses for fine china. Don’t keep it in the china cabinet collecting dust, y’all!

Now is the time of year to use your green and amber pressed glass. Don’t have any? Look for it at our estate sales or in our gallery–it was hugely popular in the 1970’s and there’s a lot of it to be found, at low prices. It’s the perfect compliment to a fall table.
